Sam, your post was balanced in the sense that you got some things right and some things wrong, but in contrast to MSM journalists, at least you believe what you say despite your biases.

You will find that Pell is innocent and was a reformer and an instrument to clean up a lot of filth as a prelate in Aussieland. The liberals in and out of the RC church hate him. He was a supporter of past PM (Trump like conservative) Tony Abbott, and with a particularly left-wing government in the sate of Victoria, where Pell’s home diocese was located, Pell has a rather large target on his back.

The gay sex orgy in Rome was raided by the “Vatican” police not the police of Rome. It was not in the Vatican but was located in an apartment owned by the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the City of Rome. The occupant of the apartment is alleged to be the secretary of cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, head of the Pontifical Council for Legislative texts and a key adviser to the Pope. Those are the facts and what you do Sam, is twist those facts into a story on paedophilia, like behind the walls of the Vatican children are being abused. Coccopalmerio’s failing and the scandal is actually that he was recommending that the priest occupying the apartment for ordination as a bishop, which shows either he has no clue about what is going on with his own secretary, or has no problem with homosesuals being priests or bishops, or that he himself is a homosexual. What should also be newsworthy to an unbiased secular press is who was really behind the raid – Vatican conservatives angry with Coccopalmerio’s support of liberal cardinals on various doctrinal issues, or Vatican liberals angry with his statement that the Church was not going to change its position on gay marriage. By the way, most homosexuals are not marriage and could care less about gay marriage because most like their freedom and variety – a mostly male sexual weakness). The fact is we do not know much about the political machinations behind the scenes because the secular media is simply more interested in Church bashing, innuendo and speculation.

Stats do not show any higher incidence of paedophilia in the RC church than in any other religious or secular organization. However, this does not mean that the problem is not more prevalent in dioceses where bishops have been or are more liberal on moral issues and homosexual candidates for the priesthood have not been weeded out. The term ‘weeding out’ is my term, but I am aware of exclusion policies in various religious communities and in various dioceses, which I wholly support and did support when I was a RC seminarian for about 6 years some years ago. Not only for strictly moral reason were such polices generally enforced, but also they were enforced because there was ample evidence of the attraction of many homosexuals to male youth, who for anyone under the age of consent in most jurisdictions, such persons are considered as “children”. Paedophilia is a grave sin and a crime perpetrated by an adult against a child. At the time there was a homosexual organization called NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association). It was made up of homosexuals who “liked” children. It is probably still in existence. One of their sayings was “If you are eight then it is too late.” – meaning that they did not just like male adolescents, but boys. I know of one major seminary in a major Canadian City where there was a very liberal policy with respect accepting candidates for the priesthood who were homosexuals. The seminary I was in had a very conservative policy. I have no stats for the outcome from such seminaries, but birds of a feather tend to flock together (Mount Cashel), and I fear the worst for that more liberal diocese.
What you have to realize is that the secular West, despite its condemnation of Christianity and everything Catholic, has gone very pro gay, and the last bastion of moral opposition to the trend remains the Catholic Church. The pressures of the secular media, and cultural Marxist who have infiltrated the Church, are enormous and they are constantly targeting any conservative prelate to neutralize or destroy Catholic moral teachings.
Child exploitation, human trafficking and sexual deviancy are a huge world-wide problems and heinous crimes, which are spreading. The secular focus on the RC Church for any such deviancy ought to have a purging effect to make it a better witness of Christian morality. However, in a time of rising persecution against Christianity in general I doubt that is the real purpose.
In Canada, for instance, the secular humanist agenda since the 1960’s has been to liberalize and remove every conceivable sexual taboo out there. In 1982 the Liberal government enacted as constitutional, a Charter of Rights which was virtually a blank slate for the courts to redefine public morality. The mainly Catholic opposition pro-life, pro-family organizations in the country said the government was effectively removing moral issues from the jurisdiction of Parliament and the democratic will of the people. The secular anti-populist media applauded the government. The political action organization I was a part of, accurately predicted and published in secular newspaper ads during the fight, stating that the transfer of such powers would very shortly entail legalised and state-supported abortion on demand, homosexual marriages, homosexual adoptions, the destruction of family values, assisted suicide and euthanasia. All of which has come to pass.
